Administrator access via forgeable JWT authentication
Published Oct 24, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Authentication bypass in WenwenaiCMS 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain administrator access through a forged JWT. The backend accepts an administrator JWT signed with a guessable secret, and the published proof of concept brute-forces that key from a developer-demo token. Access to a valid demo token and interaction with the login exchange are required; success exposes the administrative backend with administrator privileges.
