CVE-2023-45985Network attack vector

Service interruption via setParentalRules stack overflow

Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024

A stack overflow in TOTOLINK X5000R and A7000R firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt router service via a crafted POST request. The setParentalRules handler overflows stack storage while processing attacker-controlled POST data; the parameter and copy operation are undisclosed. Unauthenticated network reachability is sufficient on X5000R 9.1.0u.6118_B20201102 and A7000R 9.1.0u.6115_B20201022; the record does not specify whether interruption manifests as a crash, hang, or reboot.
