Information disclosure via unrestricted locator URL fetching
Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Blind SSRF in Remark42 1.12.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to trigger server-side requests through crafted comment JSON. The /api/v1/comment handler passes a locator URL to TitleExtractor when the title is absent or sanitized, and the extractor fetches that attacker-controlled URL without restricting it to configured site domains. Posting comments must be permitted for the target site; successful exploitation discloses information through blind outbound requests rather than direct response content.
