Authenticated code execution via traversed template path
Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Path traversal in Gibbon 25.0.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code by writing PHP files into the webroot. The report template builder passes the templateFileDestination path and attacker-supplied extension to file creation without confining the destination to uploads. High-privileged access to create and edit report-template assets is required; a planted PHP file executes with the web server context.
