Stored HTML injection via unsanitized message iframe
Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Stored HTML injection in Gibbon 25.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to embed an attacker-controlled iframe in a message. The Messenger posting path accepts an iframe in the body field and renders it when the recipient opens the message without neutralizing the element. Message-sending permission and recipient interaction are required; delivery to an administrator permits chained XSS/CSRF actions, including creation of an administrator account.
