Remote command execution via unsanitized PDF renderer options
Published Oct 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
OS command injection in ILIAS 7.25 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands after an administrator opens an XSS payload. The PDF renderer configuration accepts unvalidated option values that execQuoted in the ilUtil class passes to exec as part of a shell command. Exploitation requires a user account, administrator interaction, and enabled HTML or JavaScript content; successful commands run with the web-server account's access.
