CVE-2023-45853Network attack vector

Memory corruption via oversized ZIP header fields

Published Oct 14, 2023 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in MiniZip through 1.3 allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt memory via oversized ZIP header fields. zipOpenNewFileInZip4_64 truncates filename, comment, and extra-field lengths into 16-bit ZIP header fields without first rejecting larger values. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled data into MiniZip's ZIP creation API; core zlib alone is unaffected.
