CVE-2023-45844

Kiosk escape via arbitrary Android app installation

Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Improper access control in Bosch Rexroth ctrlX HMI Web Panel WR21 before RC7 allows physically proximate attackers to escape kiosk restrictions. While Google Chrome is locked in kiosk mode, a low-privilege operator can install an arbitrary Android application that opens power-management settings and can expose secure ADB debugging controls. Physical access to a Chrome-based kiosk session is required; the resulting settings access permits device disruption and privileged debugging.
