CVE-2023-45839Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Builder command execution via unchecked HTTP download

Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Download integrity failure in Buildroot 2023.08.1 and dev commit 622698d7847 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute builder commands. The aufs-util package definition fetches source over HTTP while lacking a .hash file, so dl-wrapper accepts the downloaded archive after only a warning. An attacker positioned to alter the download can supply a Makefile or patch that runs commands on the build host and tampers with generated files.
