Service crash via unhandled malformed WebSocket frame
Published Oct 19, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024
Denial of service in Directus 10.4 through 10.6.1 allows remote attackers to crash WebSocket-enabled servers with an invalid frame. SocketController registers upgraded connections without an error listener, so the ws library's RangeError escapes and terminates the API process. WebSockets must be enabled, and an unauthenticated network client can interrupt service until the process restarts or a supervisor recovers it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
