CVE-2023-45807Network attack vector

Tenant metadata modification via read-only permission bypass

Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Sep 13, 2024

Improper permissions in OpenSearch Dashboards before 1.3.14 and 2.0.0 through 2.10.0 allow remote authenticated users to alter tenant metadata. The tenant-permission implementation fails to preserve read-only restrictions for create, edit, and delete operations on dashboard and visualization index metadata. Read-only tenant access is sufficient; index data and existing read access remain unchanged, but metadata deletion can make dashboards unavailable.
