Local privilege escalation via unchecked audio broadcast write
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 14 System allows local users to escalate privileges through a crafted audio broadcast request. CreateAudioBroadcast in broadcaster.cc writes beyond a valid boundary because it omits the required bounds check before writing. Exploitation requires local code execution but needs neither additional execution privileges nor user interaction, and success grants elevated privileges.
