CVE-2023-45773

Local privilege escalation via unchecked sync indexes

Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

An out-of-bounds write in Android 13 and 14 Bluetooth System code allows local users to escalate privileges without user interaction. Several btm_ble_gap.cc functions use a failed periodic-sync or sync-transfer lookup result as an array index before verifying it is below MAX_SYNC_TRANSACTION. Exploitation requires existing User execution privileges and can elevate access locally on an affected device.
