CVE-2023-45680Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service crash via stale comment-list length

Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

NULL pointer dereference in stb_vorbis 1.22 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash consuming applications via a crafted Ogg Vorbis file. When start_decoder cannot allocate the comment pointer array, it leaves comment_list_length nonzero while comment_list remains NULL, and vorbis_deinit later indexes that NULL pointer. Reachability requires a consuming application to process an attacker-supplied file and encounter the allocation-failure path; the bounded result is an application crash.
