CVE-2023-45677Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unchecked Vorbis comment lengths

Published Oct 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 12, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in stb_vorbis 1.22 and earlier allows attackers to execute code by supplying a crafted Ogg Vorbis file. start_decoder uses an unchecked signed comment length for allocation and then as an index; negative values underwrite the vendor buffer, while INT_MAX makes len+1 overflow. Exploitation requires a consuming application to decode attacker-controlled input with a caller-supplied allocation buffer, allowing successful writes to corrupt memory and execute code.
