Authenticated file disclosure via unrestricted shortcode URL
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Local file inclusion in Remote Content Shortcode 1.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read server files via a crafted shortcode URL. The remote_content_shortcode method passes the shortcode's unvalidated url attribute to cURL as CURLOPT_URL, so file-scheme paths return local file contents. Contributor-level access is required to submit the shortcode; disclosure is limited to files readable by the WordPress PHP process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
