CVE-2023-45586Network attack vector

Authenticated IP spoofing via crafted tunnel packets

Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Insufficient data-authenticity verification in Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy SSL-VPN tunnel mode allows authenticated users to spoof peer IPs. The tunnel-mode packet path accepts crafted outbound packets whose asserted source IP belongs to another VPN user instead of binding the source to the authenticated session. An authenticated VPN session and SSL-VPN tunnel mode are required; the attacker can send packets as another user but cannot receive that user's traffic.
