Unauthenticated command execution via checkIpExists injection
Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Jun 12, 2025
Command injection in Vinchin Backup & Recovery 5.0., 6.0., 6.7., and 7.0. allows remote attackers to execute shell commands. The checkIpExists API endpoint places the JSON ip field in a shell-command context without sufficient validation, allowing || syntax to introduce an attacker-supplied command. The endpoint is reachable with the product's hard-coded API credential, and injected commands run with the web server user's permissions.
