Item changes via omitted edit filter
Published Oct 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Edit-filter bypass in Wikibase before 1.35.12, 1.36.x before 1.39.5, and 1.40.x before 1.40.1 allows remote attackers to merge items. ItemMergeInteractor writes the source-clearing and target-update revisions through WikiPageEntityStore without running the EditFilterMergedContent hook. Normal merge permissions still apply, but a blocking AbuseFilter stops only redirect creation after the first two revisions have already changed both items.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
