CVE-2023-45321

MQTT credential interception via cleartext enrollment HTTP

Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024

Cleartext transmission in Bosch Rexroth ctrlX HMI WR21 before RC7 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept MQTT credentials. During manual server-IP enrollment, the onboard Android Client retrieves the MQTT address, username, and password over unencrypted HTTP. Exploitation requires access to the panel's subnet and method 1 enrollment; the disclosed credentials permit authentication to the remote-management broker.
