SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable DLL path
Published Dec 1, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
DLL hijacking in HuddlyCameraService before 8.0.7, excluding 7.99, allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM on Windows. The SYSTEM service runs from a user-writable .NET extraction directory and searches there for missing DLLs, so a planted library is loaded at startup. A standard local account must write the payload into the service subdirectory and reboot the host; successful exploitation grants full SYSTEM privileges.
