Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked DHCPv6 Server ID
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Buffer overflow in TianoCore EDK II NetworkPkg edk2-stable202308 allows remote attackers to execute code via a DHCPv6 proxy Advertise message. PxeBcDhcp6Discover accepts an unchecked Server ID DUID length and appends the option without enforcing the destination capacity or cumulative Discover length. The target must have PXE boot enabled and accept the crafted response on its broadcast domain; exploitation can disclose memory, alter execution, or crash firmware.
