CVE-2023-45230Public exploit

Adjacent-network code execution via unchecked DHCPv6 Server ID

Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Buffer overflow in TianoCore EDK II through 202311 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted DHCPv6 Server ID. Dhcp6SendRequestMsg allocates a fixed base packet plus local option lengths, then trusts the server-controlled length while appending its DUID. The target must have IPv6 PXE boot enabled and accept an Advertise reply from an unauthenticated attacker on the same broadcast domain.
