Authenticated code execution via unbounded SSID copy
Published Jul 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in boa in Realtek rtl819x Jungle SDK 3.4.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. setRepeaterSsid copies the unbounded repeaterSSID0 request value with sprintf into the 33-byte tmpStr stack buffer. Administrator credentials and a prior wlbasic.htm request are required to satisfy CSRF handling before a crafted formWlanSetup POST overwrites the stack, crashing boa or redirecting execution.
