SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable application folders
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Privilege escalation in Siemens SICAM PAS/PQS 8.00 through 8.19 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The installer grants the Windows Users group full control over Siemens Energy application-data folders, allowing files in those locations to be altered for code injection. A low-privileged Windows account with local access is required, and successful exploitation grants complete control of the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
