CVE-2023-45197Network attack vector

Remote code execution via traversed upload path

Published Jun 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in the Adminer and AdminerEvo file-upload plugin allows remote attackers to execute uploaded PHP code. The plugin uses the table name directly in the move_uploaded_file destination, so a table named '..' escapes the upload directory and places a predictably named file in the application root. The file-upload plugin must be enabled and reachable; successful exploitation writes attacker-controlled content beneath the web root and permits execution with the web server's privileges.
