Local denial of service via SMB client
Published Dec 22, 2023 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Denial of service in IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 allows local users to interrupt the SMB client through a crafted request. IBM identifies the affected locus as the AIX SMB client daemon and does not disclose the malformed input operation that triggers failure. A non-privileged local user must reach the daemon; the reported consequence is service interruption without confidentiality or integrity impact.
