CVE-2023-4516

Code execution via unauthenticated update-source change

Published Sep 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Missing authentication in Schneider Electric IGSS Update Service 16.0.0.23211 and earlier allows local users to execute malicious update code. The service accepts a change to its configured update source without authenticating the caller, then applies attacker-supplied content when an update is forced. Low-privilege local access is required, and successful exploitation can run code with the service's privileges and disrupt control of the SCADA system.
