CVE-2023-45138Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unescaped change request title

Published Oct 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Cross-site scripting in XWiki Contrib Change Request Application 0.11 through 1.9.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted title. The ChangeRequestSheet.xml template inserted the user-controlled document title directly into an HTML label; the fix applies XWiki rendering escaping before output. Any attacker able to submit a Change Request can supply the title, and viewing the rendered request can execute script with XWiki privileges, escalating to remote code execution and broad confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
