Account-level script execution via unescaped template restriction
Published Oct 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 10, 2024
Stored XSS in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute script as a link-opening user through a template provider. The createinline.vm template inserts a provider's attacker-controlled allowed-space restriction into an error message without XML escaping. An account that can edit its own profile can plant the provider, but a user with edit rights must open the crafted document-creation link; the script then acts with that user's rights, reaching full wiki read, write, or code execution when those rights permit.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
