CVE-2023-45085

Workload disruption via skipped compute-node initialization

Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper initialization in SoftIron HyperCloud 2.0.0 through 2.0.2 allows local users to disrupt workloads during compute-node reenablement. The compute-node state transition marks a disabled and reenabled host ON immediately instead of passing it through INIT, permitting scheduling before initialization completes. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and coincides with a host disable-and-reenable action; only workloads scheduled in that window can fail or enter an erroneous state.
