Victim-browser script execution via unencoded profile icon
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
Stored XSS in EFS Software Easy Chat Server 3.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in another user's browser. The registration handler stores the Icon parameter from POST /registresult.htm without sufficient output encoding and inserts it into an image tag on /users.ghp. No authentication is required to submit the payload, but a user must load the affected users page; execution is confined to that user's browser context.
