Remote code execution via oversized search name
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024
Buffer overflow in Easy Address Book Web Server 1.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted search request. The /searchbook.ghp handler accepts an oversized POST name value whose overflow overwrites structured exception handler control data. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied code on the Windows host.
