Unauthenticated DoS via Password buffer overflow
Published Oct 5, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-823G firmware 1.0.2b05 allows remote attackers to cause denial of service via a crafted Password parameter. The SetWanSettings function copies the untrusted Password value without sufficient bounds checking, overflowing its buffer and disrupting the router process. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.
