Denial of service via oversized SSID
Published Oct 5, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-823G firmware 1.0.2B05 allows remote attackers to interrupt the router service via a crafted SSID. The SetWLanRadioSettings function copies the SSID parameter without enforcing the destination buffer size, allowing oversized input to overrun memory. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; the documented consequence is service interruption, not code execution or data compromise.
