Router crash via oversized MacAddress parameter
Published Oct 5, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
A buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-823G 1.0.2B05 allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted MacAddress parameter. The SetWanSettings handler copies an oversized MacAddress value without adequate bounds checking, overflowing its destination buffer. No credentials or user interaction are required; a crafted network request can crash the device without reading or changing data.
