Session theft via reflected Invite Friend mode
Published Oct 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Reflected XSS in mooSocial 3.1.8 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in a user's browser through a crafted Invite Friend URL. The friends/ajax_invite handler places the mode query parameter into executable page output without neutralizing JavaScript syntax. No authentication is required to create the URL, but a user must open it; successful exploitation can expose session cookies and permit account impersonation.
