Stored XSS via unrestricted SVG upload
Published Oct 24, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Stored XSS in RiteCMS 3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser through an uploaded SVG file. Filemanager accepts an SVG containing an onload handler and serves it as active content, causing the browser to execute the embedded script when the file is opened. Administrative access to Filemanager and interaction from a user who opens the file are required; the script runs in the RiteCMS origin context.
