CVE-2023-44689Network attack vector

Phishing redirection via unrestricted custom URL handler

Published Oct 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Improper authorization in e-Gov Client Application before 2.1.1.0 on Windows and 1.1.1.0 on macOS enables phishing via a crafted URL. The registered custom URL handler accepts attacker-supplied website information without restricting the destination and launches the application toward an unexpected site. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted link through a browser; the resulting redirection can present an arbitrary website within an expected e-Gov workflow.
