Remote code execution via unblocked __import__ calls
Published Oct 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Code injection in LangChain Experimental in LangChain before 0.0.306 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted PALChain prompts. PALValidation scans generated Python calls against COMMAND_EXECUTION_FUNCTIONS, but that list omits import, so crafted code can load subprocess and invoke system commands. The application must pass attacker-controlled text to PALChain and execute the model-generated Python; successful exploitation runs with the host process privileges.
