CVE-2023-44446Network attack vector

Application crash via dangling MXF track references

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Use-after-free in GStreamer gst-plugins-bad before 1.22.7 allows remote attackers to crash an application by supplying a crafted MXF file. The MXF demuxer stored essence-track objects inline in a resizable GArray while retaining pointers to its entries, so array reallocation left dangling references. A consuming application must process the file; the upstream project confirms a crash, while ZDI also reports code execution in the current process.
