Root code execution via unsanitized PPPoE username
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-X3260 1.02B02 and earlier allows remote authenticated users on the local network to execute code as root. The SetTriggerPPPoEValidate handler in prog.cgi passes an unvalidated, user-controlled username string into a system call. Access to HNAP on LAN-side ports 80 or 443 is required, and the paired authentication flaw removes the login barrier.
