CVE-2023-44420

Authentication bypass via flawed prog.cgi authentication

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Authentication bypass in D-Link DIR-X3260 firmware 1.02B02 and 1.04b01 allows network-adjacent attackers to access the router via prog.cgi. The executable implements its authentication algorithm incorrectly, but published advisories omit the faulty comparison, token handling, and request fields. The management interface must be reachable from the adjacent network; no credentials or user interaction are required, and exploitation crosses the router's authentication boundary.
