Root code execution via unchecked DeviceName copy
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DAP-1325 firmware 1.07b01 allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code as root. SetAPLanSettings copies an unchecked DeviceName value from XML supplied to the HNAP1 SOAP endpoint into a fixed-length stack buffer. Authentication and user interaction are not required, but the attacker must reach the device from an adjacent network.
