CVE-2023-44374Network attack vector

Authenticated privilege escalation via cross-account password change

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2026

Privilege escalation in affected Siemens SCALANCE and RUGGEDCOM firmware allows remote authenticated users to reset another user's password. The password-change operation insufficiently verifies which account owns the password being changed, so a low-privileged account can target a different account. Network access and authentication are required; changing an administrator's password permits takeover of that account and its privileges.
