CVE-2023-44353Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file-existence disclosure via WDDX gadgets

Published Nov 17, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024

Untrusted-data deserialization in Adobe ColdFusion 2023 Update 5 and earlier and 2021 Update 11 and earlier allows remote attackers to probe file paths. A CFM endpoint accepts attacker-chosen WDDX object types, while the default serialfilter.txt denylist omits classes whose setters test supplied file or directory paths. No authentication or user interaction is required; HTTP error differences disclose path existence, and a Windows UNC path exposes the service account's Net-NTLMv2 hash when the service does not run as SYSTEM.
