CVE-2023-44308Network attack vector

User redirection via unvalidated Adaptive Media parameter

Published Feb 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Open redirect in Liferay DXP 2023.Q3 patches 1 through 5 and 7.4 GA through update 92 allows remote attackers to redirect users externally. The Adaptive Media administration page accepts the _com_liferay_adaptive_media_web_portlet_AMPortlet_redirect value as a redirect destination without restricting it to a trusted origin. Exploitation requires a user to follow an attacker-crafted link, after which the trusted Liferay origin sends the browser to an arbitrary external site.
