Stored script execution via unsanitized instant messages
Published Oct 4, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Citadel WebCit before 994 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in a recipient's browser. WebCit passes JavaScript-bearing instant-message text to its browser display path without sanitizing it. The sender needs a Citadel account and a recipient must receive the message, exposing that recipient's WebCit session data and actions.
