Network traffic interruption via DHCP-triggered DMA leak
Published Oct 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Improper input validation in Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5000 Series switches allows remote attackers to interrupt traffic via DHCP packets. The Packet Forwarding Engine mishandles specially formed DHCP traffic for an EVPN-VXLAN pseudo-VTEP and fails to release DMA memory. Exposure requires pseudo-VTEP configuration on a QFX5000 Series switch; sustained packets exhaust memory, stop protocols, and interrupt traffic until a manual reboot.
