Network disruption via bypassed MAC address validation
Published Oct 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Origin validation error in Junos OS Evolved on PTX10003 Series routers allows network-adjacent attackers to interrupt downstream traffic. Its MAC address validation forwards frames bearing addresses not intended for the adjacent LAN whenever a valid route is present. No special configuration or authentication is required; the resulting Layer 2 loop congests the downstream domain and interrupts service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
